ok i am really getting upset now. i took my truck to 2 different dealers cause of a clanking noise i get in 4 wheel drive. both told me it was caused cause of my life it was the angle of the front drive shaft that the u joints were grinding. ok if it was the drive shaft making the noise wouldn't it do it in 2 wheel drive also cause the front drive shaft still spins in 2 wheel. i got out and had someone drive the truck and it seems like it is coming from the front axle.
also told them about problems with tranny slipping when going from drive to reverse especially when plowing. they said there was nothing wrong and i wasn't coming to a complete stop. well i got under my truck today and it is leaking fluid.
also having problem with shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive. wow i never thought i would have so many problems with a brand new truck. maybe i should have kept my chevy.
Your dealers must be a joke! Hate to see your having problems, sounds like you got one of the torqueshifts with the bad reverse clip. I know a lot of guys that had great trucks, trade them in and have a ton of problems with there new ones, makes them wish they had there old good trucks, I have a great looking\running '00, I plan to trade in for a new one soon and hope I get a good one...

Pretty sad when you have to "hope to get a good one" for $40k++ don't you think??
how long do you think i can make it. we are supposed to get 2 feet of snow this weekend and i need to plow. well i guess i will drive it until it blows. hopefully it will wait until monday after the blizzard.
I would see where that tranny fluid is coming from,,,if your case is cracked,,,and you have to plow 2' feet of snow,,thats probobly when its going to have a "Come-a-Part", right when you need it the most. Good luck.
Here in Conn. there talking 10" to 20" of snow, from this storm, so all the snow removal equipment will be going straight out,, So far my 04' F-350 SC,V-10 DRW,6-speed w/4:30 LS has been great pushing the 9' Fisher, Not any issues with 14 k miles on it, and definately will be kepping this truck. Good luck to all the snow fighters with this storm.
Later,,,,,,,,,Mark
it's sad my dealer told me it was normall to hessitate going into reverse too.now my trucks in the shop with a cracked tranny case . my tranny was leaking fluid pretty bad but it still drove like nothing was wrong. no noise no grinding . it will run out of fluid sooner or later. and start smoking when it leakes out on the exhaust. supposed to get that storm too 18 to 24 inches my trucks on the lift at the dealer. do ya think ford will let me borrow a plow truck? yeah rite
well i hate to ssay it but my next truck is going to be a chevrolet with a duramax. i think the truck looks much better inside and out. nothing wrong with what i have now but dang those chevys are nice
this might be a stupid question but what is a dsb hearing?
Jon,
Not stupid at all.. DSB is Dispute Settlement Board, a non-profit group of people (not owned by ford supposedly) that was put in place due to the various lemon laws. These people (who again are supposed to be impartial) hear cases that are submitted for buy back or replacement when the manufacturer is not able/willing to repair a vehicle and the lemon law is involved.
I believe this was added to relieve people from having to sue all of the time to get the manufacturer to do what is right and fair. They gather info from the servicing dealer (s) and from you and pretty much decide what is going to happen from then on. The neat thing is it is binding on Ford but not on you. From all that I have read so far, as long as you act professional and state your case clearly they are very reasonable and don't want you to have to put up with the problems any more than you want to.
Did any of you catch the post starting this where Stevedinha01 said "it was caused cause of my life it was the angle of the front drive shaft "
Could this mean he has a LIFT instead of "LIFE"?
Think about it
Second item the front drive shaft will only turn when 4hi or 4 lo are selected and the power is directed throught the transfer case to both the front and rear.
Do a search on the 05 5R110 transmission and you will see there is a TSB out for certain production/assembly dates of this trany. Apperently the reverse to forward constant shifting (plowing?) is causing a lot of these trany problems because something inside is working loose and eating the internals. Lots of current posts on the subject.
Your problem is if you lifted the truck, now you are in a battle to PROVE the LIFT did not also cause the tranny probelm. Sorry bud but the front end problem will be charged to the LIFT and I doubt Ford will warranty the repair.
Good luck with the tranny because it should be covered due to Ford knowing certain assemblies are screwd and plowing seems to bring the problem out. I doubt your lift had anything to do with the trans problem.
well it happend. transsmission on my 05 blew. right in the middle of the blizzard. pretty sad that my 05 with 2500 miles on it had to be towed by an 89 chevy with over three hundred thousand miles on it. the truck went to the dealer today i am waiting to see what what they say. and yes in my original post i meant lift, but do also have a life (ha ha) i know they are going to blame everything on the lift. by the way truck was so bad it wouldn't move. had to get a flat bed to bring it to the dealer. how embarrassing.
