I'm very convinced on sticking a 5.4 liter v8 out of a 2001 ford f-150 into my 1965 mercury. Main reason is fuel economy and then cold weather starting. The reason for the post is to see if anybody has done a swap like this or similar. Also any comments or anything would be great. What is all in need to get it going. Motor mounts, x-member, computer, fuel pump and so-on. I just need to know how hard a swap like this would be. What about room in the engine compartment for the 5.4. Will there be enough room? I read that a 5.4 is a big engine, dimensions wise. 260 hp and 18 mpg hopefully gets the juices going.
Thanks
Garontee that will get your juices flowing. A friend on mine has that setup in his 65, 18-20 mpg and it hauls ice. His is strickly a driver, with a 8.8 from a Mountianer in the back.
I have a 03 F-150 x cab 4wd with the 5.4. My best ever milage is 15.9 mpg on the highway at 68mph. Around town its a 11-13 mpg gas hog. Good power though!
The link above dosen't work but my guess is that he ha a 4.6 with DOHC right? That would be a nice engine but finding one would be expensive. That's why the 5,4 is more feasible.

Goto ebay and put this in the search bar 7948456349
Then you'll see which motor he's talking about. Of course the photos in that auction are blurry and suck.
