four cylinder problem
This is the codes in order.
18
28
31
88
I don't know if it matters, the problem is on my 91 Ranger, standard cab, 5 speed manual transmission.
Any ideas.
18- erratic IDM input to the processor
28- Loss of IDM-right side
31- EVP circuit below minimum voltage
88- Loss of dual plug input control
my scanner manual says:
18- Loss of TACH signal to ECA
-or-
DIS Fault-primary circuit failure in coil 1,2,3, or 4
-or-
EDIS fault-failure in SAW circuit
28- EDIS fault- failure in coil 3 primary circuit
-or-
DIS fault-loss of right side TACH signal
31- EVP sensor- signal boltage is below minimum specification.
-or-
EGR valve is not in its normal closed position
88- DIS problems- loss of dual plug control
looks to me as though you should start trouble shooting the distributorless ignition system (DIS)
for code 31 you may just need a new evp sensor, about $30.
My understanding of how this system works is limited.
