Rebuilding Oak bed
Ok I am in the process of completely rebuilding my bed on my 1986 Ford F150. After investigating and looking at great kits from Mar K's, I decided to use Oak planks. What I am wondering is what is the best method to join them together? I am planning on using bed strips but they only hold the wood to the cross sills. I am wondering if Tongue and groove of each board is reccomended? OR possibly is lapping them? Has anyone done this? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Rebuilding Oak bed
The older trucks with wood beds used lumber that had a rabbit joint on both upper corners. This makes the bed strips flush with the top of the wood, and keeps them from sliding around too much. You can't make them solid, or too tight though. The wood needs room to shrink and expand as it naturally does with moisture and the weather.
