Headers installed on a 1982 F150
Ok I think I got a cheap set of headers!!! (Blackjack). The truck is a 1982 F150. The orginal configuration was a 4.9L with a 3 speed overdrive. I converted it to A 351M(highly modified) wih a C6 trans. The eng in install with all the related mod's,etc. My problem is the headers, headers mount up ok, I have plenty of clearance but the drivers side outlit (collector) is lower than the pass side. The drivers side pipe must come below the transmission cross member and the pass side comes above the cross member. Is this normal, Should I remove these headers and pitch them. Thanks Art

I put full length headers on my 84 f150 with a 302. I had the same problem. The header outlet on the right opened up right in front of the crossmember. So i had to custom bend a straight pipe and I just ran it underneath the crossmember. It works fine. I dont know why they are like that. Anyway, with a 351m in an F150, how does that work out. Are you satisfied with the power? It is a possibility for my truck considering I have a 351m and a c6 in my garage. Good Luck.

Ok I thought so!! I will do the bend.. The change ove went quite well. I had to change frame mounts for the motor mounts, new radiator new drive shaft etc. I lucked out, my friend gave me a complete 351M with all brackets etc.
The mods I did were:
Complete rebuild
Bored 30 over
Pistons 30 over
Aussie heads
3 angle valve job
Port and Polished
Crane 272 cam
headers
Edelbrock Performer 400 Manifold
Edelbrock Carb 4 barrel
MSD 6A
MSD Distributer
MSD 8mm wires.
High Vol oil pump
High tourque starter
C6 trans with Shift kits and Mega shifter.
Flowmaster dual in dual out,high flow cats.
What do you think?
