i need some info

-hello-
i need some information on an engine swap

i have a 1974 f-100 with a 300 six i want to swap the motor for a 1968 302 v-8 i already have the original 4spd i was wondering if the 302 would fit the bellhousing of the 300 sixes tranny. so i just need to know if the 4spd will adapt to the 302 v-8

thank you very much

Yes. You will have to move the engine perches back a little, and change the throttle linkage. The clutch pivot is different too, but easily modified.

you should be able to buy most of the parts you are looking for off the shelf. If they do not have the motor mounts for the 302 get 351w mounts they will work and i believe they were an option for your truck. you will have to change the bell housing out on the transmission and your flywheel as the balance is not the same. Hopefully you will have all the hardware/brackets for the assesories with the 302 if not check the wrecking yard

Is your truck 2 or 4wd? Ford didn't put a 302 in 4wd trucks, and they didn't put a 351W in any truck until '83.

The bellhousing is the same, but you'll need the flywheel from the 68 motor, but the pilot shaft is the same spline count.
