I've been having a problem with my truck not starting when the motor is hot, so the dealer is putting in a new HPOP. What would cause it to go bad? Programmer?
Yeah, I don't know either. At least it is under warranty, I guess. He asked something about a programmer causing the pump to go out. Hope they don't void the warranty and make him pay for it all.
I agree...the dealer must be looking for something to complain about, with regard to not warranting it, as its highly unlikely for any programmer to affect the volume output of the HPOP! The IPR is the only electronic part of the HPOP, and its of a very simple design in which no programmer should harm.
It sounds more like a CPS issue, or perhaps a burnt connector to one or several injectors! Or possibly an injector drive module (IDM) problem, as I've heard of a few of them going bad as of late!
Perhaps you could give us a little more detail as to how the truck was running prior to the problem? How does it start when cold?
When was the last time your oil was changed? Any possibility of oil foaming?
