Humvee tires?

I was wondering around on ebay the other night and saw a set of the 36x12.50x16.5 humvee tires. I was just curious if anyone has ever used them or know someone who has. I like the price ut a famous saying comes to mind. You get what u pay for.

ive posted a few times on these tires, ive never used them, but might buy a set till i can afford some Iroks, i talked to a guy that had some on his truck, he told me they were great in the muck, but unforgiving on the street and on rocks, they are a very tough tire and are built to last, thats why they ride so rough....but they have two directional tread and im told thats why they are good in mud, if they are good enough for the military they must be good for something......there is a guy here in okc that sells them for $45 apiece, but he wont mount them......if you can get a set for $100-200 bucks id say its worth it to have usable rubber until you can save enough for the good stuff....

It depends on if you get bias ply or radials. The radials run fine on HMMWVs. The stock weight on a base vehicle, which is what most of the Army runs, is around 5,000lbs so it is comparable to our trucks. The bias plys get horrible wear patterns and ride rough as hell.

Are you talking about the old Goodyear MT's? If so, they are a tough compound and have a stiff sidewall.

I've run both of them on the HMMWV's and you don't want either. The MT's (Radials)don't have very deep tread depth or side biters. The RT II's (Bias) wear like crap and are impossible to balance. The RTII's are the loudest things I've ever heard in my life. Both tires aren't very good in rocks, they get shredded quick. For Mud the RT II's are definitely better. For the price of either of them though ($400+), I'd get a set of IROKS or BFG's. Oh yeah, both have sidewall squirm like you wouldn't believe and unless you run beadlocks, you're gonna come off the rims at lower pressure. The 15 degree bead likes to slip off. Do yourself a favor and spend the money else where.

I ran a set of the RT 11's in the pits 2 times this year (guy let us try them out first), they did good in the watery/soupy mud, but that was it, after the next event we ditched them and bought a set of boggers.
