Can someone help? On every truck I have owned I installed bumper guards on the front bumper from JC Whitney. They looked very similar to factory guards and were functional (pushed with them many times).
Even had a car back into my truck once, they saved the grille. Its been a few years since I purchased my last set, but I believe they were made by GEM Mfg. I picked up a J.C.W. catalog yesterday and they apparently have dropped them. I've done a search of Gem on the net to
no avail. The guards I'm referring to, were clean and really accented thefront of my trucks. Is this company still around? Is there another company producing a factory type guard?
I don't know if they've gone the way of the do-it-yourself moon-roof or not, frankly. (Try finding one of THOSE kits...)
I remember my '73 Grand Torino had a factory bumper with CHP-style push Guards on it, but I don't think the manufacturers think in terms of vehicle-to-vehicle contact anymore. It could be an insurance driven thing...
