need real time help

On my way home I stopped to fuel up. I left the truck running like usual. When I left I pulled out into traffic so I got on her a bit to get up to speed, not to bad about 2400 RPM. THen I heard a loud poping sound and a rush of air. Then when I stepped on the pedal enough to spoll the turbo I was missing power and I could here a weizzing sound. The first thing that came to mind was I popped off a intercooler hose. So when I got home here I popped the hood and the hoses where intact. Need some advice fast? Its almost dark and 10 degrees, falling fast

Sounds to me like your EBV activated, maybe when it shouldn't have, and is stuck in the closed position?? That's the first thing that comes to mind. Was the truck up to opperating temp when it happened?

I thought of that also. After I got home I let her sit for 15 minutes and then started her up. She ran for a few minute and then kicked up to high idle. I drove her around the block and when I stepped on the pedal she still made that hissing weizzing noise.

If you are sure all your intake side hoses are still on and tight, I gotta believe it is something to do with the EBV. You may want to grab a-hold of all your intercooler piping connecter clamps and make sure they are tight. I have no idea how to trouble shoot or correct the EBV if that's what it is - but probably the first thing I'd do is dis-connect the batteries and reset the PCM. It controls every stickin' thing in these rigs, and may have decided to do something goofy??

Okay, I reset the PCM and went for a ride. I starting to think it is the EBV. The engine heated back up rather quickly. Once she was hot again I put down the passenger window and I could hear the wooshing jet sound from the exhaust. Now what?

sounds like you blew a boot off one of the intercooler tubes, or a boot off one of the intakes. check the 4 boots on the CAC tubes and the two on the intakes.

I just came back from my son's basketball game and she's still whistling. The more I ponder it the more I think its NOT the EBPV. I was under throttle with a good boost in third gear then pop-whoosh. Why would the EBPV kick in then? It shouldn't right? I have to be losing boost somewhere. The way its behaving now you don't hear anything just off idle. Then as give it gas it starts a whistling weizzing noise. The pitch changes with the throtle position. It almost sounds like a tea pot whistle. My son and I were both listening intently and agree its coming from in front of the driver.
Any othere suggestions.

if your truck is a 99 or newer and has an intercooler, check the rubber boots and clamps that connect the tubes together, as stated in my last post

Had a small rip in a boot on one of my buddys Trucks. Took us for ever to find it. ended up taping 1 boot at a time with duct tape and goin for a ride after each one,,,till we taped the right one and the noise changed. Took the boot off and on the back side it had a little spilt. The drivers side bottom one if i remember right..Made that tea pot noise too..
