I guess i will have to take mine off the egr valve threw a code this morning insuffecient flow the 7 degree weather might have had something to do with it though had the plate on since last summer and no codes at all till today
Nah, the "low EGR flow" will be the position sensor reading low. OBD1 doesn't measure the actual EGR flow, just the position of the EGR valve. If you had actual low flow, you'd get pinging uphill or a lean O2 code.
Leave your restrictor. Fix the position sensor. Bad sensor, wiring short, vacuum leak, something like that. Cold weather will harden rubber, and might cause a vacuum leak around a rubber connector.
OBD1 will try to compensate for low sensor readings by trying to open the valve even more. So your restrictor is keeping your truck from running terrible.
