does anybody know where I can get some contact infomation on hauling those campers or anything here in the eastern U.S. I have heard that there is money to be made but I don't have any means of crunching the numbers to see if it would be a good business venture or not. If anybody can help just p.m. me or email, thanks.
I don't mean to dash your hopes .... But it's a tough way to make a living ! Plan on being gone from two weeks to a month at a time and putting a bunch of miles on your truck . The pay is between $0.60 and $1.00 a mile ( only while hooked to a "load" ) and some companies will help you find a back haul , but you may end up dead heading ( no load/no pay ) back to the manufacturer's yard . you will be subject to DOT regulations , such as DOT physicals and drug testing , some companies will want you to have a doubles endorsement on your CDL ( yep you'll need a CDL ) because they pull stock trailers as a back haul and pull two at a time . Your truck must pass a DOT inspection , have all the company required equipment and be no older than a '99 . most prefer a dually but will accept 3/4 tons , no gassers , diesels only . Check out more then one carrier and talk to drivers ( don't believe anything a recruter tells you ) . Horrizon Transport is the largest RV transporter in the country , but there are many to choose from . Just go into the bussiness with all the facts you can get . You will be in bussiness for your self , so line up a good CPA who knows the transportation bussiness . Good luck with what ever you decide !
