I have a 93, 351, with newly installed shorty headers and a 3in exhaust. The y-pipe and converters are stock, as well as the orig o2 sensor. My truck has 110,000 on it and it ran like a dream. After the headers were installed I noticed a loss of power off the line. It kinda feels like it is lagging. Mid range and upper speeds are great. All my plugs and wires are good and installed correctly. Everything went back on good and no check engine light. Any help with thip prob woul be greatly appreciated.
1:is the shorties stock stang headers or aftermarket?if there stang headers they are not much better than stock manifolds, only have a lil' more room or acess! 2:try movin your timing up a lil:2 degrees at a time till it starts to ping and back of 1 or 2 good luck!
the speed density will have no affect from exhaust changes. i to suggest you bump the timing up to 12* at least for starters. Shorties are better then stock manifolds and are less troublesome then longtubes.
Alright, I have solved the lagging acceleration prob with new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Now, would there be any benifit to still advancing the timing, and what would they be. Secondly, I would like to get more spark out of my ignition, with out going totally crazy. Any suggestions in that field would help. Thanks again.
