I started up my truck yesterday and while I was letting it warm up a bit, it was only in the 50's,for just a couple of min. , I noticed it sounded real bad. Sounded like it was only running on 5 or 6 cylinders. I attempted to take off but had no power what so ever. The more I pressed on the gas the slower I went. I never got over maybe 10 mph. And then all of a sudden the power came back and everything seemed OK.
Anyone have any ideas!
It should have a smooth idle when the EBPV is actuated but if you take off pretty soon when it is cold it could still be actuated causing the exhaust to not breathe easily. Or if the engine is not that warm the diesel is not completly exploding (white smoke). I have also seen on some trucks that the valve can get stuck over time. Has the truck done this since the last time?
The truck hasn't done it again. When I first noticed it the was at idle. The idle became very rough. In fact I was idleing the truck, backing out of a parking spot when I first noticed it. When I tried to take off there was no power what so ever. I drove about a half a block giving the truck quite a bit of gas when all of a sudden the power came back. Seems to be running fine since. I reprogramed the truck back to stock setting and going to take it into the dealer in the morning. I don't know if they'll find anything or not.
