I have a '85 F150 302 fuel injection with dual tanks. My problem, a couple of months ago my truck was running fine, I backed out of the driveway and it died (no big deal). After I got it started I did not have but about half of the power that it should have. I figured the fuel filter was stopped up and changed it. Well after getting fuel back in the lines for the fuel injection, my truck started fine and ran for around 10 minutes with no problems then all of a sudden it started sputtering and died. Restarted and and ran for another few minutes and died again. Then I could not get it to restart. When I finally restarted it it will idle but as soon as I put it in gear it will sputter and die. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pull a sparkplug wire off and stick a screwdriver up in the end. Hold the screwdriver next to the engine block and crank it over to see if a spark jumps. If it does, then it must be fuel related like you are suspecting. But to make sure, I would put a fuel pressure guage on it. I have used a regular type guage to do this. Somewhere along the fuel rail for the injectors, you will see a fitting and it will look like a tire valve(schrader valve). I have used a regular guage by carefully unscrewing the guts out of the valve(careful it doesn't squirt you), and then slipping a fuel line hose over the fitting and securing it with a hose clamp. Then hook the guage to the other end of the hose. Run the truck and see if you get around 38psi fuel pressure.
