I went to the muffler shop the other day and i was tellin them how i wanted my exhaust, and they said they couldnt do it........they said the only option i have is to go with a flowmaster kit thats specifically made for my application(86 F-150 5.0 EFI)....Are all muffler shops like this???? or do some of them actually do what you want them to do......BTW, i want long tube headers into flowmaster super 40's and then run them out the side in front of the rear wheels
They just dont want to do it because it will be a pain in the butt. Go find a shop that will take your money. Always tell them when you get the quote that your paying CASH. Not debit, credit, cheque.... it works wonders.
i have no emissions or inspection where i live, so i dont know why it wouldnt be a problem.....ill probably go back to the shop and ask them if there's anyway they could do it.....and if they say no then im just going to another shop
If they don't want to cut your cat(s) off, cut them off yourself then take it. Most muffler shops will not mess with the cats, so you might end up cutting it off.
Crap....where the heck do you live.....my silly state says you cannot even change the muffler legaly!!!!! so my headers...and all the rest that goes with it are illegal in Massachusetts. I pass emmisions just fine. I get my instections at the Ford dealer that install Banks powerpack kits....so they HAVE to pass my truck seeing they sell the kits and installs them. In massachusetts you get saftey inspections every year and emmissions every other year......on my saftey year the local garage that does inspections gave me a heads up that if I bring my truck there next year for the emmission test......they will inspect the exhaust system and will deem that it is not factory and it emits a sound louder than stock and FAIL me. I have headers...new ypipe.....stock cat...all o2 sensors hooked up.....and only a FM 70 series muffler which is about a tick louder than stock......so I want to live in your state.....hey my dad failed because we actually have decible meters in the inspection stations......his f-150 is limited to 57 db and he tested 61 db...he has a FM 50 SUV muffler on a 5.4L 2003 F150......I have a 2003 F-250 sd 6.8L V10.
almost any southern state doesnt have either emissions or inspection.....including where i live which is Tennessee.....ive been wanting to move up to Massachusetts or New Hampshire for a while....but i cant because all my vehicles are to loud and i refuse to change them
Don't people vote in Mass? Seems like enough is enough.
Unfortunately they do vote.......ever hear of Ted Kennedy or John Kerry or one better Barney Frank........when these moron keep getting elected to congress you see what kind of minority I am in ........not easy being red in a VERY VERY VERY blue state. I choose nation people for you, ones that you would know......but the state congress is just as bad.......this tells you how incompitant they are......last year there was a law to ban all aftermarket exhaust systems in Massachusetts.......I learned thes from SEMA's homepage......well I wrote all my local representatives and voiced my opinion. I was told by my local rep. that the bill died in commitee and it would not come up for a vote. .............only to find out at the registy of motor vehicles that at inspection time that your factory system or suitable replacement....you know replaced a rusty muffler with a off the shelf equal replacement.......has to be inplace.....NO HEADERS........FLOWMASTERS and the like.....and it cannot emit a sound louder than stock........so just to prove that the legislature in incompitant......wasting time on a law that already existed.
