retrofitting a bed on a 75 4x4
I was wondering if anyone did the following conversion and if so, how did it turn out. I need a bed for my 75 F250 4x4. I was thinking about dropping a complete diamond plate flatbed on the chassis. Can the F250 handle this weight?? Does the rear suspension need some upgrading? Does the chassis need to be boxed to support the weight? I have access to a free diamond plate bed and before I do anything drastic, I want to know if it is possible.
Thanks
Ben
Yes, the 250 will take the weight, IF it's not made of something unreal like 1/4" or 3/8" plate. If your rear springs are good it won't make much of a difference, if not you may need to replace, or add a leaf or two. Maybe some overloads.
If the frame's rotten, find another truck

The frame, as well as my springs, are in good shape. When you mentioned some overloads, are these the same as 'helper' springs??
