12 v source for cd player

Where can I pick up 12v for my 10 disc CD player in 1997 f-350 (Old Style)? There are no 12v outputs in fuse box, do I have to go all the way to the battery?
Thanks

Running your own line all the way to the battery would be the best bet, that way you know for sure you won't be overloading any existing circuit you would tap into.

That was my original plan, just hoped there might be some auxiliary (similar to late 90's Dodge, I know I know, thats the only good thing about them) where you can just use a crimp connector and plug it right in, and it's fused, guess I'll have to use an in-line fuse and go all the way. Do you think I need to go all the way with the ground too, or can I hook up to the ground post I found under the dash.

Thanks

Some people have some interesting theories about where to ground certain car audio components. Since it is just the power and ground for the CD changer, I'd say anywhere you can pick up a ground would be just fine.

well you can grounder anywhere, the closer to the changer the less wire and neater the install. also i doubt that it uses much power at all so id use 8gage which would be easy to hide, and run it to an extra spot in the fuse box and make everything look stock.
