4.6 sound

well got a 2002 F-150 with the 4.6 under the hood, i like the smooth power it has but, it just sounds wussy, i mean my 4.9 sounds meaner than it. I was wondering if any of ya'll had put a glasspack on your 4.6's, thats what i did to my 4.9 and love it, so im leanen towards the same for my 4.6, what are ya'lls experiences with 4.6 exhaust? Also how many miles have you put on your 4.6? the one i got has 102,000 on it, but i know for a fact they're almost all highway.

my 4.9 vs my dads 4.6 ....
the 4.6 blows me out of the water

we both got flowmaster's and my 2ed cat was cut and the 4.6 is still louder and
100 times deeper

thats the point, i just have the stock exhaust on it right now, i was wonderin what sounded the best, and if anybody had tried a glass pack.

Try the exhaust forum. You'll get better results in there. I prefer Flowmaster myself.

I have a flowmaster super 40 on my 98 4.6 w/turndown. I guy I work with has an 03 dodge 4dr with a hemi with the same setup. Mine has a much deeper sound than his, almost like a big block sound.

wow wow man you compareing stock vs stock ??
if you are no wounder you think the 4.9 is louder

thats the motor maken all the sound not the exhaust.

I just bought a 4.6, manual transmission, 4X4. It has a dual system with some sort of glass packs on it. I'm not a fan of glass packs because they really don't flow as good as a flowmaster or a good turbo muffler, BUT this thing sounds GRREEAAATT!!!!!

I haven't had a chance to crawl around underneath and really examine the layout, but I did see that the way the mufflers are arranged, it would be difficult to just put flowmasters in their place, but when I look around I might see a better way to arrange the system.

I have a lift and can mig weld, but I don't have a pipe bender, so I might just live with this system for awhile.

This truck sounds like anything EXCEPT wussy.

The 97 I just picked up has no muffler and is not too loud at all.

IF you want loud, go with true dual straights all the way back. that's what i had on my 97 with 4.6 and it sounded awesome, loved it. had a nice deep throaty sound to it
