My truck has a somewhat rough idle when first started. After it heats up, it runs perfect. But when I first start it up, it lunges and even shuts off when the rpm's go to low. Any ideas?
yes my BII has this same exact problem, sometimes it starts up and idles fast then as it warms the rpms go down (which is normal) but they go way down, way way down, to the point of the engine dying, like i said this only happens sometimes, and when it does i just give it gas till its warm then we're off.
Reading in my manual here is the exact text in order to test your IAC valve.
... [U]The valve is located on the side of the throttle body...
1. Turn the ignition switch to the off position
2. Disengage the wiring harness connector from the IAC (Idle Air control) valve.
3. Using and ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals of the valve > Due to the diode in the soleniod, place the ohmmeter positive terminal lead on the VPWR terminal and the negative lead on the ISC terminal.
4. if the resistance is not 7-13 ohms, replace the IAC valve.
hope that helps
