My 94 F-150 is sorta bogging out sometimes when i drive...i usually happens when i get around 30 mph...it feels like its not getting gas or maybe it switches into an extra high gear cause it feels like it has no power...any comments?
You can check your trouble codes, you can have codes even if your engine light is not on. See how to check for codes at www.fordfuelinjection.com under getting trouble codes. Its easy and free. Also a Haynes manual has a ECC trouble codes section. Let us know if you get any codes.
Mine was on the driver's side frame rail. You need a special tool to release the fuel lines. The parts guy can get it for you if you ask for a fuel filter and the fuel line tool. The tool is only about $5.00.
Its a PITA to get those lines off. Be careful that you don't damage the ends of the fuel line when you remove them from the filter. There are little fingers inside the ends of the fuel line and act as retainer clips. Go slowly and don't get ****ed. Its pretty easy if you're patient.
You need to releave the the fuel pressure first by running the truck and then triggering the fuel cut off inertia switch. Mine was behind the passenger side kick panel.
I replaced mine first too, but it was the pump, not the filter in my case.
