Replacing a multifunction switch

Ok so assuming my headlight problems are because of this switch I went out and bought one. But I do not want to go tearing into my steering wheel without some direction. I have searched all over and could not find any steps for replacing this piece. Anyone have a spot for this information?

haynes or chiltons. Its pretty straight forward, but isnt our headlight switch on the dash and not the steering wheel????????? Not sure what your prob is, unless its putting the hi lights on?
