I have a 95 Bronco. I can't get the tailgate window to go up with the key however it does go down with the key. The dash switch operates fine, up and down. Any thoughts?
I just fixed mine today on my 96 was doing the same as yours, it was broken wire in the harness from the tailgate to the body. Guess it broke from all the flexing it has to do when you open and close the tailgate. Have a look there.
its more than likely your switch in the tailgate is broken.
go to a u-pull it junkyard,or an auto parts store and buy a new one.
when you open your gate click the door latches closed so you can fool the window to think it is closed, and will operate.operate window to close and support it while its out of your way.replace switch.
I found the cause to my problem, after replacing the dash switch and no luck. I tested the tailgate key switch and found it to be OK. So I started to untape all of the wires and I what I found was where the ground wires come out of both switched the go into one, back against the drivers side. Where that connection comes together into one, thats where it was broke. So, it's worth the extra effort to do a little wire tracing. Thanks
