F150 wheel interchange

I see that 97-00 used a 5x135 pattern but with 12mm studs and 01 & up uses the same 5x135 pattern but with 14mm studs.

My truck is a 98 with 17's, the lugs are flat washer seat (not typical cone) & are hubcentric which means the center hole pilots off of the hub center, the lugs just clamp them on. Can I install an alloy 17" rim off of an 01 or later??

I'm not worried that the lug holes will probably be larger, I'm worried that the center hole is a different size and they either wont fit on, or will be too sloppy and not be on center.

What kind of lug nuts do the 01 and later use?

the lug nuts on the 01 and newer are flat washer, not a conical nut. 17 inch rims off a 01 - 02 should fit on the earlier years, they are hubcentric, and the hole in the rim where the hub fits should be the same.
my father has 00 f150(12mm nut) and I have a 01 expediton(14mm nut), and we have swapped rims before.
