I know that the lug nut thread for an 04 F-350 is 14x1.5mm, but I need to know what the thread pattern is for an 01' Excursion. Reason I'm asking is because I'm selling my old wheels and tires to a friend, I have 2 different sets of lug nuts, the ones that I used for my SD and the ones that came with the wheels and tires. They don't fit my SD and I was told that they came off an Excursion but I don't know what year it was. I also don't know if mabye the thread pattern changed. I hope someone can help. Thanks.
Yes, the Excursion lug threads did change at one time, I just can't recall exactly when. I believe the diameter remained constant, and it was thread pitch that changed. I think my '01 has 1.5mm thread pitch, and the newer models have 1.25mm pitch.
Some of the '01 X's came with course threads, others with fine
I just received the Dynatrac free-spin hub system kit in the mail and they sent me the wrong studs (I have fine threads. Now I have to wait for them to send me the right studs.
14 X 1.5 Course Thread till the change to 14 X 2.0 Fine thread
You got it backwards.
Coarse thread is 14x2.0, and Ford changed to Fine thread, which is 14x1.5, at some point around 2002-2003. The change does not seem to be linear, so you really need to match up with what you have on your truck instead of relying on charts. The early 6 lug Fords also had the coarse thread lugs. Pretty short sighted and honestly kind of dumb on Ford's part to use coarse threads when they redesigned the trucks.
Poke em, I agree with your assessment on Ford's decision. However, YOU have it backwards on the thread pitch numbers.14x2.0 is fine thread. 14x1.5 is coarse.

Poke em has it right 14x2.0 means 14mm diameter with a thread pitch of 2mm. Last time I checked 1.5mm is 75% tighter than 2mm, hence 1.5mm is a fine thread (more threads per inch ... er, excuse me ... per centimeter) when compared to 2mm pitch.
BLUF- I am not able under any method to find a course thread 14x1.5 lug nut for the 2002 F350 with a flanged face. The Dorman 611-230 is a 14x2.0 is fine thread, direct from Dorman's web-site.
Sure hope I am wrong, but at this time to properly (safely) run Ford factory 2004 18" rims (Harley, Lariat, King Ranch) wheels on a 1999-2002 super duty, one must change their lug bolts from course to fine.
Please tell me I am wrong and their is a proper course threaded lug nut that will properly/safely work with a 1999-2002 Super Duty running 18" 2004 rims. I don't think anyone makes them.

I think this is where you are hung up here, see how metric threads seem backwards from typical SEA thread counts?

14x1.5 is the more modern trucks fine thread pitch, 14x2.0 is the older truck coarse thread pitch. Those Dorman 611-230 14x2.0 nuts are the perfect match to your '02 trucks lug studs and they have the required flange to seat them as designed onto the hub centered '04 Harley 18" wheels.
