I wish I had as much luck as you. I ordered mine ob July 21 and haven't got a build date yet. All I have so far is a VIN. I've been told that you can go to a web site and track the progress of the build. Does anyone know the url

Looks like we both have the same build week. I'd love to know how you got a build so quick? I ordered in June and they're just now getting to me.
Patriot,
There is no website that you can access to obtain your build information. The dealer only has this capability using their internal computer system. You can however dial 800-XXX-XXXX and use the automated response system to find out more info. ---snip---
DO NOT ASK TO SPEAK TO A HUMAN AT THIS PHONE NUMBER. It is not for consumer usage. If you screw up the input, hang up and try again.

Ford went back to dealership and talk to them. Ford consumer said they're not linked with manufacturing but could help me out if I would give them the dealership, town and state. It took about four days to get back to me...

Can't figure out the codes for the aplpha characters in the VIN. Tried virtually everything. Any idea how I can find our the reason for my delay or the allocation numbers for a dealer? My salesman doesn't seem to care if I buy this truck or not. Apparently he feels if I back out he'll just put it on the lot and sell it in two days. The last word was my status is "locked in". No build date yet. Ordered on 7/21.

Your VIN should read like:
-snip-
If still not sure, post your VIN and we'll decipher it.
As for allocations, I think it all depends on the average amount of trucks your dealer sells on a regular basis. If he sells more he gets more spots. If he's small potatoes, he get's what's left in build spots. I doubt if they have real control over-riding this themselves.
As for the dealer not caring. He probably doesn't care one way or the other. If you don't want the truck, someone else will. Or he does care, but can't do anything for you and hopes you'll just go away for awhile....
If truck is "locked-in", it should have a build date then. Once you decipher your VIN, you'll be able to call on your own.

Anyway I have a 9/25 build date so at least I got something. I have seen on other postings that 3-4 weeks after build is the time I can expect delivery. Any thoughts?
I'm not sure about the salesman's attitude... he didn't seem very concerned about my issues with the financing. I have to call the bank and see about extending the rate guarrentee period. I threatened if the rates went up, to pass on the truck. He was aloof.

My build date was for 9/18 and got a call yesterday from the dealership and told me the delivery date was for 10/30 and he got a call from Ford and they moved it to 10/16. He also told me to hang tight cause they may change again....

Drive normal traveling speeds according to the speed limits. Refrain from using the cruise right away for a short time......a few days at most. Most mechanics say to vary the speeds but there is no real break-in period according to Ford. You won't hurt the engine doing 60-65 so don't worry.
I for one never let the vehicle warm up for more than a minute before driving. Just enough to move the oil around...:>) I get a kick out of people with 2yr old cars that they let warm up for 10 minutes before driving them. They always sound like S%$@ when they try to start up.....Go figure.

Patriot,
Look closer to about 2 weeks from the week of build since the Expy plant is slowing production for a few days in the beginning of next month. More supply than demand apparently, right now, according to BlueOval. I would guess the yellow delivery trucks will be looking for more work for a couple of days, but this is a hopeful guess on my part for both of us.
A sampling for you: 2 SCrews built the week of
8-20 were delivered to my Philly, PA dealership the Friday before Labor Day. Count the days.

I don't think the salesman can help you with locking in finance rates until the truck arrives. It would be like gambling for him/you. I don't think a bank would guarantee rates like that either, but maybe yours might. Mine gave me a check with a blank % rate and said go to it. Basically you get the rate of the day your check posts, but they don't change all that often. I also wouldn't expect the rates to rise right now. My bank's rank has come down a 1/4 since I got the check. As for passing on the truck, YOU know you won't, the salesman knows you won't and best of all, your fellow message board members know you won't!! :>)

Do you know how the status info will change on my truck from the current "scheduled build date Sept 25"? Will they state something like "in Production" then "in shipment", etc?
Of course I won't pass on the truck. I'm a Ford man from the time I was old enough to make my own decisions. I have looked forward to a new truck for all my life and this one should make me very happy. Never ordered a vehicle before, never anticipated the anxiety of the wait. Couldn't dream of buying one off the lot though. I wanted it fairly loaded but didn't want to pay for things I didn't want (i.e. moon roof). Needed to get the right paint too. Arizona beige will never look very dirty. My first F150 was black, beautiful and a pain to keep clean. Too bad they don't offer better wheels on the Lariet yet. Really had a lot of bad luck with chrome and swore it off after alloys became available. I hope these wheels don't rust to ugliness in 2 years. I live in snow country, ya know.
My bank (people's 1st, thru lendingtree.com) gave me a 45 day lock in on the rate (7.83%). I told the dealer if he could better the rate I would let him have it (I understand they get incentives from local banks to steer business their way). Problem is, the rate expires on 10/5 so we're cutting it close. I am going to contact the bank today and see if I can get the rate guarantee extended another 45 days. At least I'll have that check in my pocket if I want to use it. If a local bank can give me a better rate I'll of course throw them the business, but they'll have to earn it.
Thanks for all your assistance. I wish the salesman could have been more informative. Doesn't surprise me though.

That information is propriety Ford Motor Company information for dealer use only. FTE has posted a policy in the past that VOPC information is OFF-LIMITS.
Use of this is on Ford's nickel for the call and makes it difficult for dealers to use the number because consumers have had a history of abusing the number by calling many times a day and making the number busy when dealers try to use it.
As such, all propriety information in this thread has been removed and the thread is now locked and marked read-only. Ford has asked other sites not to publish this information and we support that request here.
