Tourque Converter causing vibrations??
So the front input shaft on the trans leaks and engine is shot, but both are about to be rebuilt.
Trying to save money since this truck is a POS and think the tourque converter is causing this issuse but don't want to replace if not the issue....truck doesn't vibrate at any speed while accelerating or under load for that matter, however when on the highway, foot on the gas, and going downhill or very little load I get a vibration, this vibration will stop if I take my foot totally off the gas and let the truck "coast".
Would this indicate a issue with the tourque converter? Also making a varing pitch "squeeking" noise that changes as the trans shifts through 1st and 2nd gears until the truck gets driven for 10 miles or so - seems like it might be related to the part causing the vibration. It's not the drive shaft as it coincides greatly with RPM changes, which the drive shaft gradually increases and doesn't change RPM's as quickly as the "squeek" does.
Sorry for the lenghty post - hard to describe issue without all the little details.
As far as it leaking, either the front seal has just plain worn out, or the front pump bushing has worn enough enough to make the seal leak.
AND YES, a torque converter could be going bad and STILL you could operate a vehicle. I have seen this MANY times in 11 years as a master tech in a Ford dealership as a Transmission Technician. SHEEZ
