Wassup everyone, it's crazy it's rainy so much in socal, but i guess it's good once in a while unless you got a vehicle that can't take it. oh well, new to ford, i got a 98 expy w/20's. cliche-ish but, my wife is happy it's not too blinged out. anyways, had the suv for 6-problem free beautiful mos. until i had to replace the whole pcv assemble. not too bad except for the bloody knuckles i got trying to take off the rubber seal from the intake that had me laying across the engine reaching into the back. no straight tool helped, but i found my wife's garden tool that had a slight bend and was able to poke it off. one of the best feelings.
now i've got a p0303, so far, maybe more from all the rain today. i believe i need to replace the cop. i've read that the drain assemble leaks going off to the side and drips onto the engine, specifically on the cops. any other ideas would be helpful. or instructions, but i here it's pretty easy. hopefully, please.
P0303 is the #3 COP. First I would blow out the rubber boot with compressed air and coat the boot with a dielectric silicone before reinstalling. Then blow out the spark plug area to get any moisture away from the spark plug. Blow the inner spring from the boot and also blow dry that. Clear the code and see if it will come back.
sounds like some good advice before i spend $50 on a cop. thanks. actually i already bought one but if yours works then autozone has no problem taking it back. too bad i can't find it yet...
no prob, monsta. i finally found them buried underneath all the wires. anyways i can't find any "how to change cops" anywhere. does anyone know where i can find one. the stupid search won't let me search unless i pay some money. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
thanks, sounds simple enough. i should have clarified myself before hand. it's very hard for me to get to it because of the 2 hoses and other junk that are in the way. do i just force my hands through the junk to get to it? or try to remove the hoses 1st.
outside at night w/ a flashlight, during spurts of down pouring rain, i was able to change cop #3. what a b!tch, not to mention with all the wire and hoses in the way, and the nut was screwed on super tight. it's finally done. and truck is running well again. thanks to everyone's input and help.
