The same code just popped up today on my all stock 98 Expy EB with 118,000 miles. My speedodometer also stopped working today. Nice timing as we are in the middle of the worst snow storm, in Carson City, NV, since 1912. Since I have had no major problems, that have cost me money, in the two years since I bought the rig I am going to take it to the local Ford dealer and let them fix both problems. My dealer gives me a 1 year/12,000 miles on any work done except normal maintenance. I really enjoy my Expy and like to keep it in tip top running condition.
The dealer found a blown fuse caused by moisture. The blown fuse causes the low voltage code. They replaced the fuse and reset the codes and it is working fine now. It was worth the labor cost to learn what the problem was and how to fix it as well as learning that here were no other problems with the airbags components. It will most likely happen again especially during the winter season. Check your fuse first. Replace if necessary and then have Autozone reset your codes. If it is not the fuse then I would recommend taking it to your local Ford dealer.
