Thanks very much guys. I ordered the marico piece from Overtons, then googled zerostart and ordered the cord from partsamerica.com using the pn provided a few msgs back. Hey I'm only in NJ but we had some serious cold weather last winter.

Thats funny. The Thermo Zerostart cord aftermarket was 3600008. Hum... Wonder if Thermo makes the OEM version too.

The cord is a Zerostart. I bought it from an International dealer. From looking at the package I thought Zerostart was an International Corporation product.
I am glad to see others in Texas are adding the cord. My family laughed at me for days when I put the cord on my truck. I kept telling them that we do have 5-10 days a year it gets cold here in Dallas
I have not gone to the Marinoco plug yet, actually wanted to but forgot until this thread.
My March 05 build 2005 6.0L KR FX4 CC LWB has the block heater and cord and this was not listed as an option -- built in Kentucky and bought in Georgia.
For what it is worth it is not easy to find -- on a diesel the cord is on the passenger side behind the tow hook area.
Last January in Pilot Mountain, NC, I frequently woke to morning temperatures ranging from +4 to +10. While The Beast always started, I became curious about connecting the engine block heater to an outlet. My window sticker said that I did have one. The truck was originally delivered to a dealer in West Virginia. Using the manual and the posts of all who contributed here, I think I have found the cord It appears to be coiled up and wire tied to itself and is located behind the front bumper inboard of the right fog light. There appears to be a covered outlet at the end of the cord.
I could use some confirmation because I want to be sure of what it is before I start cutting wire ties. If this is indeed the engine block heater cord, do I need a special extension cord or can I just connect it to a heavy duty outside extension cord. I like the idea of a heavy-duty outside timer. Any advice, as always, is greatly appreciated.

and spoke with a man in Technical Support. He told me that the back side of this "Outboard Charger Inlet" will not accept a three-pronged male plug, which is what I hope to find when I unship my engine block hearter cord from behind the grill and take the plug off the end. The Tech told me that any electrical cord would have to be hard-wired into the back of the Marinco. Can you confirm that for me please? Being mechanically challenged, I am concerned about cutting off a plug to hard wire the cord into a connection that would be mounted in the front bumper only by drilling a hole. Your counsel is always appreciated.
I plug my truck in below freezing. When I got my new one I looked for the cord and could not find it. The heater is located above the starter in a soft plug but they want extra for the cord. I asked my dealer during the first service and he gave me a cord for free and installed it.
Good Luck

You have to cut the plug off the heater cord to wire it into the outlet. Just make sure that the cord is long enough to reach. My after market one from Zerostart was. I have posted pics in my gallery where I put mine.
Chris in tx, I just looked at your pull you installed. I like that, looks well protected from the elements. I have an 01 and my cord is on the drivers side by my tow hook (used only to pull chevy's out of course) but my plug gets corroded from rain. I may have to put one of those plugs on my truck now. One thing to remember our trucks may start fine in cold weather but the oil is thick and won't want to flow freely till it gets warmed up. By having the heater pluged in the oil will be warmed up and lube more easily. Just my two cents worth.

Sorry for the late response Bosko, somehow I missed your post.
I merely made an extension cord (approx 6" long) using the Marinco outlet as the male end and made a female end for the heater cord plug male end to plug into. Worked out real good...no fuss no muss.
I took pictures. Will attempt to post over the next couple of days. If I figure out how to do it.
KW5413, Thanks for the encouragement. I get the gist of what you are saying about making an extension cord and await your photo(s). I would like to see how you connected to the Marinco. I knew I could count on you.
