1989 Quadra Van

My son bought the 1989 Quadra Van that was listed on EBay. Picjked it up in SOCal and drove it back to Vernal, UT with a few off raod stops in between. On two noticable problems. Vapor lock ot problem changing fuel tank and a poor window instalation caused a lot of water getting in. Any suggestion on how to make the inside more RVish? and ways to make it a more "adventure van?"

my son bought this Quadra Van. Drove it from SoCal to Vernal, Ut. Other than a fuel transfer issue it ran great and gets a lot of head turns.

They are pretty cool. Mine turned out to have a bad case of roof cancer so Im looking for a class b ford RV to put on the 4x4 chassis. I think that's the best way to make it a camper. Least expensive anyway.

I own a Quigley, I fell in love with the 4x4 Vans after seeing a Sportsmobile for the first time. Other than some recent injector woes it has been a great truck, and VERY capable offroad and in snow/ice... That said, if money were no object I would send my van to U-Joint Offroad and let him de-Quiglify it... Quigley did some really weird stuff, ask me how I know

I'll be impressed with a Quigley if I see one with a V10

There are a lot of them with V10's. I'd rather get 8 more miles per gallon and the power of a diesel. Just personal preference, the diesels aren't for everyone.

Fair enough 😀
Now I'm interested.

And I agree about diesel- not for everyone. I wouldn't use a diesel vehicle for anything except to sell it. Stinky, noisy, foreign (to me) technology....

I won't lie, they are EXPENSIVE to repair when they do need major stuff. The gassers have a leg up in that department. one of my 7.3's has only needed normal stuff like a vacuum pump, alternator and starter, thankfully it seems like it goes about 2 years between needing parts so I'm not complaining. My other one went about 4 years without needing anything and then needed big, expensive stuff.

The six point uhoh ruined Ford, they lost contracts they'd held for 30+ years for that junk, and nothing after it has been much better, why, the EPA demands of emission equipment on an engine that naturally is low emission, to make them dependable, one must remove all of it, which is a lot of work, there is better options out there. Europe has small diesel engines that put out twice the power of their American counter parts, yet they are illegal here, if you want a diesel, your best option is to locate one and do it yourself, minus all the additional unnecessary equipment. Diesel gets great mileage, and longevity, repairs are few and far between, BUT when they are due, the cost makes them equal, don't think you get off cheaper.

I have a Quigly converted 1990 Long wheelbase/body E-350 with the 460. I had some difficulty this past summer with loosing the speedo drive gear in the transfer case causing the truck to go into limp home mode. Called Quigly C/S, gave them the V.I.N. and they could tell me the Ford part number of everything I needed. A 26 year old van and they still had the build sheets and could tell me the Ford part number for all the parts they used in the conversion. They say that they only use Ford factory parts, so service should be easy. The local ford dealers didn't have everything but Quigly did and they overnighted the parts to me. Super service!!
