Just was wondering if any of you guys in FTE have a Ford wrecker. I'm not talking about a old homemade pole truck. I have a 50 2 1/2 ton Ford with a holmes unit. Seen guys with big nice farm, army and fire trucks. But not to many wreckers other then the ones retired and working in junk yards. Just though it be cool to find others to chat with. Have a great day !
Does mine count? I have a 53 F-250 that had what looked like it was home-made but origonal at the same time. I have removed that part of it and got a holmes 330 hand-crank unit to go on it.
at the moment i have a 56 f500 that is a tow truck, but we did not start getting holmes backs until the late 70's as far as i know, so this like many, has a 2sd winch that works in both directions.

Steve, I think the link you posted is broken. Sometimes certain software substitutes elipses (...) for the middle part of the URL and it gets messed up. Can you post the eBay item ID?
I'm in the process of re-doing a '56 F-350, with a Stringfellow Mustang boom and factory body. I'd like to see some photos of your F-4. Also, to see lots of old wreckers, go to a site called "tow411". Membership is free, but you can lurk without joining, I believe. You'll want to look at the Vintage Equipment forum, which also has a link to the International Towing and Recovery Museum, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which is where Ernest Holmes built wreckers for many years.
