Max RPMS for 361XD
Does anyone out there know what is the max recommended engine speed for a 361 XD?
I just got my 72 FOrd L700 today, and it's a real stump puller, but I don't want to over-rev it, the tach goes to 5k, but no red anywhere on it. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'll hurt anything running at 5k. But, I'd be surprised if it will breath fast enough to get there. I understand these to have low flowing heads, and small vaLves. I would consider 4k to be very safe. I think this is the reason there is no red-line....It just won;t run fast enough to hurt itself. That's assuming the hardware is in decent shape.
