Cat-back or not

Cat-back or not
Have a question Got a 4.2 V6 f-150 1997, plan on putting a flowmaster super 40 on it.
Everything is orignal as far as exhaust, so do I just change out mufflers or do you guys do a cat back system.
FYI the exhaust exits in front of the passenger rear wheel.
COuld I get by with just the muffler change?
