how much mod's would it take and would it be worth it to drop a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria/w police package into 1973 F-250 4x2 390 auto. I would not be doing this job myself so the estamated cost of labor will have to be added to the " is it worth it " part of this post.

It depends on what you use the truck for. If you plan on towing and hauling heavy loads, the 4.6 may not be strong enough. I guess it depends on your gear ratio. The 4.6 will get much better gas mileage, and would make a better cruising drivetrain. All the wiring and computer would have to be swapped in, along with the engine and trans. It would be a pretty cool swap, but could turn into costing you a bunch of money. Maybe a Gear Vendors overdrive would get your mileage where you want it, and still keep the power of that 390?
