I have a 1997 Ford Explorer with a 5.0. I had problem with my idle during damp weather on intial startup. After troubleshooting I found the IAC module not functioning. I removed the module and cleaned the carbon out with non-corrosive contact cleaner (so it does not destroy the rubber parts). I worked the module back and forth until the plunger and spring work loose and not stuck. I reinstalled the module and it worked like a champ.
Hello , i have 987 expl. spt. trac with this idle problem i also took the iac sensor off ,did the cleaning thing but nogo still had the problem so i replaced it $115.00 from dealer guess what still having the idle problem, any suggestions?
Have you pulled the engine codes? If so, did they reveal anything? If your problem is during damp weather as the previous post said, it could be the ignition wires.
