i need new brake rotors for my '82 F150 4x4, my question is, are they one piece hub and rotor, or does the rotor separate from the hub? i need to know so i can get the right part at the store
Remove the hub and rotor from the truck, press out the wheel studs and the hub and rotor will separate. To reinstall line up the stud splines where the will engage into the hub as they were before, place the rotor onto the studs and hub and seat by tightening the lug nuts with the flat side down, you may need to use some washers to take up the non-threaded space on the studs. I have done this using a block of wood and a hammer to knock out studs and then seating everything by tightening the wheel back onto the hub and rotor assembly, be careful not to damage wheel.

You can buy the rotor seperate from the hubs, and have the old rotors pressed off, and the new rotors pressed on. Then you need to to have the rotors turned to make sure the whole assembly is true.
I found that buying a hub rotor combo actually was $10 cheaper than paying all the machine shop costs for new rotors only.
thanks, i priced hub/rotor combos at autozone, and they were only about $30 a piece, i just wondered if thats the best way to go, which sounds like it is
