88 f150, pulling codes

88 f150, pulling codes

ive looked all over in the wiring harness on my 88 f150 for the plug im suppose to ground out to pull the codes.i got almost every electrical thing workin and now i want to pull the codes and see what im getting that c.e. light for, cause shes running kinda rough. to test it with a scanner, would i still need that plug? any other way to do it? also, does anyone know what color that cable is? thanks

You need the diagnostic port to get codes, with a scanner or not. It should be near the air filter housing on the drivers side fender, maybe even attached to the bracket on the airbox with the relays. The STI wire is white with a red tracer, STO is pink/lt green, fuel pump test is tan/lt green, and signal return is black/white.

Yes, it's the one that you have to short to signal return.
