My truck is a '64 but I believe the engine is a 352 4BBL from a '66 Galaxie. It has a large in-line fuel filter that screws directly into a female opening on the carb. It is a fine-pitch 3/8" thread. It isn't a fitting that can be removed from the filter. The filter looks rather old so I definitely want to change it. I can't understand the markings. The other end is just a nipple that just goes into 5/16" or so hose. There is no way to open the filter up so I cannot replace the guts.
I think the carb is a 4100 but I am not 100% sure. At this point, I can't find any markings on the carb. I will be able to look at it better once I take it off of the engine.
I checked several auto parts stores and nothing they had fit. We looked up the Galaxie filters, newer year F-100 with 4bbl, Mustang (1968 390 4V is too big), etc. I looked through all the boxes on the shelves.
I went to a Ford dealer parts counter. The guy gave me a part number but what he gave me turns out to be the guts for the other kind of filter.
Has anyone else seen this type of filter? Can you suggest any other solution besides using some brass fittings and adaptors to get it to mate with a different filter?
Thank you
