TC shudder?

TC shudder?
This may sound odd, but I seem to remember reading about this somewhere, haven't had too much luck searching here though.
It seems as though when my torque converter locks and I put my foot into the pedal, sometimes the TC doesn't want to unlock and I get this growling/vibrating noise. Other times, either when the TC isn't already locked or unlocks easily, the growling/vibrating isn't present.
Am I nuts or has anyone had/heard of this problem?
