95 f150 4x4 problems

95 f150 4x4 problems
Can anyone help? I have a 95 f150 push button 4x4. This my 1st ford, when I push the button for the 4x4, it engages okay, and I can feel it go in. After driving about 5 minutes the truck slowed down and I was in neutral. Not just the 4x4 in neutral the transmission was in neutral also. I push the 4x4 button again and the truck went back into 4x4..... Another thing, when the 4x4 is engaged it is very loud. Are Fords known for this? Thanks!
