Yes. I had all four Ford flaps. Fronts rubbed with stock-size tires at full-lock. Since going to 305-70R-16 tires, the front flaps are history. I may make a set out of some black sheet plastic I have on hand.
I asked for and recieved HUSKY mud guards for Xmas.. <funny how Santa knew how to buy for me online> I read a number of positive reports on the product and like the custom fit they provide.. I havent installed them yet, but have slid them on to check the look and installation issues.. looks kinda easy.. I will however buy stainless steel screws to help prevent rust during the winter months.. lots of salt around here! <my poor wheels!>
From Ford, (at least for my '05) only fronts are available in the molded shape. I can;t imagine there being a clearance issue.
My loacl auto parts shop got a front set of the Husky's in, and on my '05 XLT, the cladding on the bottom moves the guard out just enough that it would be very tough to mount as the holes would have to be drilled on the very edge of the fender.

FYI
you may already know this, but Husky makes 2 kinds of flaps for our Excursions.. they address the fact that Limited or Eddie Bauer have the fender flare and XLT's typically do not. You may want to check part numbers online VS the local retail store to verify they are right for your truck.
When I placed my flaps in place, the screw holes <slightly inside fender> lined up perfectly with 2 exsisting screws. The screws needed further inside the wheel well would require a couple of new pre-drilled holes.
Bill T...thanks for the info. I looked them up on line first at the Husky site. The ones ordered were for a several year span without flares.
I don;t know what year the Ex's got the cladding along the bottom, but if when I held them to the vehicle, two of the screw holes were very near to the edge of the fender. No holes lined up. Maybe it's an '05 thing? The fit along the edge was okay.
I was hoping the Husky ones fit as I wanted a set of 4. My local store's warehouse was out of the rears, so we were only able to try the fronts.
I currently have the Ford fronts but have yet to put them on. Maybe I should revisit the Husky ones and drill the flaps instead of the truck?
