Windshield washer nozzles

My windshield washer nozzles on my '78 4x4 keep plugging up on me. I have tried all kinds of ways to clean them like sticking wire in the nozzle, blowing air thru them and even ultrsonic cleaning them. I even removed my bottle and cleaned it, changed the motor and pump and replaced all the hoses and divider connection. They always work for a coulple of squirts but then slowly plug up to where nothing but a worthless tiny mist comes out. Anybody out there have any luck cleaning these nozzles or does anyone know where to get new ones? Ford has dropped the part which was no surprise.

If you have any self pull yards in your area you should be able to get another set no problem. If I remember right it's just 1 screw per squirter. I cleaned mine out with a needle and never had any problems since. And I had a LOT of muck in them.

I believe the nozzles are rusted and pieces flake off during use. As I said before, i cleaned the whole system. They are not freezing....this part of Oregon doesn't get that cold very often. I use 20/10 just like everybody else.

i have never seen them rust, guess it could happen....do you not have a self service junk yard in your area, they would be plentiful

I had that problem and couldn't figure it out. Replaced the nozzels with parts from the auto recycler and they still kept plugging up. Then one day I noticed that the lid to the washer tank was loose and was allowing crap into the tank. Try to lift up on the washer tank lid. The whole square portion, not the round fill cap. I glued mine back on and that seems to have fixed the problem.

also check the washer pump...sometimes gunk can get on the propeller end, which may clog the nozzle (I think they're aluminum). are the hoses new?

Clean the nozzles in vinegar to dissolve deposits. You can also use commercial cleaners to remove the deposits. Clean your entire system.
