Has anyone had a window washer nozzle break? My passenger side broke last Friday and then today when inspecting the driver's side it broke in the exact same place. They broke near where the nozzle that is inserted into the hose takes a 90 degree turn up through the hood leaving parts of the nozzle in the hose. I was able to squeeze the rubber hose with pliers to break up the plastic nozzle so that it would fall out. Attempts to grab broken nozzle piece with needle nose pliers were unsuccessful. Of course they waited too break until 8 months after my warranty expired but not a big deal. $14 and a 10 minute install. I got the last two that the dealer had in stock.
Not on my Ford but my wife's Magnum I replaced both of them as the plastic had cooked from the engine heat and fell apart. I'll add it to my list of things to keep an eye on though (radiator, HPFP, exhaust valves, and now nozzles)
Yep, exact same spot of failure here. I also broke up the remnants in the rubber 90 and re-used it. Popped the old one (drivers side) out and new one in. Passenger side so far so good....
Yep, I had passenger one break apart awhile back. Poor quality plastic for the 2011 models apparently.
I also picked out the plastic bits, cleaned and reused the rubber piece, thanks to the help of a few here because I wasn't sure if those were replaceable (never have had one of those break).
The nozzle was $4 at the dealer if I remember correctly since I was out of warranty. The new one was shiny vs the dull plastic of the old design so I recommend replacing them both because mine look different, which I had actually forgotten about until now.
Dealer told me at the time this was an issue but it was still customer pay.
Been there, done that at around 20,000 miles. The EGR pipe seems to cook the passenger side pretty good if you do a lot of towing. So far the replacement has lasted nearly 45,000 miles. It looks like they changed the plastic compound on them.
Yep, mine broke a while ago and the washer fluid would not come out on the one side. Took it to the dealer and he fixed it fast and quick. Just a new piece with new, better plastic. The guy told me that the Ford Dealership had lots of people bringing in their trucks, including the F-150's with the same issues. He said a new supplier is now supplying Ford and the issue is resolved with the newer trucks. My truck is a 2011 diesel. I was told the plastic was prone to becoming frail under the hood. Have not had any more problems since.
I just replaced both of mine on my 2011 F350 6.7. Looks like they spend all that time heated up over the engine and the plastic gets brittle. Both of mine broke while checking them. Luckily they were only $7 each at the dealer. Fun part was getting the broken off piece out of the rubber hose. I found that rolling the hose back and forth with my fingers while squeezing and breaking up the last little bits of plastic did the trick. Just squirted the sprayer from inside the truck to clear the bits of plastic before installing the new pieces. (be gentle)
The nozzles have breaking regularly since the 2008 models. On our ambulances, we used to keep a couple in the glovebox in case on broke in between servicing.
Yep, same here, I blamed the Texas sun. Most anything plastic exposed to the hot sun gets brittle here. Happened on my 08 also. I also keep 2 in the console.
Mine are both broken. Filled washer fluid a week ago and just now had time to check. Started tracing the hose for kinks, per another thread, and discovered the hose went down over the back of the engine. Neither was connected, and the driver-side connector has suffered some melting. I tried hooking the passenger side up and the connector in the hood is crumbling.
My driver side broke at 25,000 , took it by the dealer here in Texas, they have a good stock pile of them . They changed both out in the parking lot . Seems to be a on going problem . Lots of heat under the hood , hot Texas weather and cheep plastic.
