HD Radio

I just installed a new Kenwood CD Reciver, it is compatable with Sirius Radio as well as HD Radio. I was wondering what HD Radio is and does it cost anything to use it.

HD radio is a new broadcasting format for traditional broadcasters, similar to HD broadcasting for traditional TV. It will provide "digital quality" for no monthly fee, and is a competitive concern for XM and Sirius satellite radio in the quality area, but is still expected to have the traditional programming and commercial negatives. I don't know if any stations are doing HD yet, but they are supposed to be starting shortly.

O Cool , cuz the owners manual was very vauge on the topic of HD radio. Hopfuly they start braudcasting in my area soon.
