Re: Firewall power brake setup
I recently installed a power brake setup in My 50 merc 1/2 ton, It was from a late seventies mustang (Ibelieve pinto to be the same) You have to mark bolt holes and cut out center hole for the brake pedal rod but was fairly sraight forward, Also had to play with the length of the brake pedal to get the right height. You will also have to get a little creative in building some braces from the pedal assembly to back of your dash, as you will get a lot of firewall "flex" if you don't. I choose the mustang setup because the size of the booster fits nicely on the firewall. Good luck!

Hanging brake pedal & power brake booster;
I was able to use the brake pedal, bracket & booster from a 1990 Mustang,
possibly same as your 1989 parts. I am building a 1955 truck, but I bet the firewall & dash are the same. The Mustang pedal seemed to fit fine but I put
a Ford truck pedal pad on just for looks. The Mustang bracket fit against the firewall & the bottom edge of the dash with just minor modifications. The Mustang booster should clear most engines, I have the Ford 302 & there is
enough clearance to the valve cover & carb. I used a master cylinder from Classic Performance so I can run front disc & rear drum brakes.Let me know if you need more info, Brian.

56 F100 Power Brakes
Hi Danlee, Mine is laeking air and I have to go under the truck to check the fluid. I didn't want to cut a hole in my floor and besides the hole would be right under the seat. I know it looks neater with it under the floor but It was in the truck when I got it and i dont know who makes it(No Numbersetc.) so I figured I would redo it to the firewall and know what I have.
Thanks

I put one in from Industrial Chassis - http://www.industrialchassisinc.com/ . It uses Ranger booster and master. My truck isn't running yet, but the installation was easy and I like the way the bracket stiffens the connection from the dash to the firewall and gave me a good place to hang my steering column from. It doesn't have a proportioning valve like the midfifties unit does, so I still have that to figure out on my own.

I used a combination valve in my disc brake conversion. Check out this link.
