axel size

I have a 1988 bronco II with a 2.9 auto. I would like to know the size of the axels. On the door jam under axel code it says 44.

you mean ( AXLE ) your 44 means you have an open 7.5 with 3.73 gears

front axle will be a dana 28

Trac lock would have had a D in the axle code. It would also have an L in the gear ratio stampecd on the differential tag
