I have a 2004 4x2 Expy. Since it is a 4x2 it does not have tow hooks but it does have the cutouts in the front facia and because of the cutouts, it looks like something is missing??? I was at my dealer for service and went to the parts department to see if I could buy the tow hooks, but they told me that it was not a service part. Anyone know where I could get tow hooks?
Along those same lines I have a pair for my 04 4x2 Expy. My question is does any one have the instructions on removing the front Valance (lower bumper) as you have to remove it to install tow hooks. The truck would look better with them an as a safety feature if I should get stuck in the snow or in a mud hole hen we travel. Just some thing to hook a tow rope or chain on if needed. I do not need 4 wheel drive as I do not go off road. Been trying to get the factory service manuals off Ebay but have been out bid twice, have the 04 wire manual.
After removing the bumper/grill assembly, you will need a 21mm (deep socket) to remove the 6 nuts that holds the inner metal bumper connected to the frame. Then, you will be able to install the factory tow hooks.
