I'm new to the forum and i was wondering if someone could help me? I have a 1990 Bronco and there is a black tube with a cap that is mounted on the frame near the gas tank that is leaking oil on my skid plate. Is this seriuos?
Sounds like the axle vent tube...Is the cap a small plastic cap? Does the other end of the tube/hose attach to the rear axle housing? If so, make sure the cap end of the tube is ABOVE the top of the differentail housing where its mounted. If it is, then either have the rear end gearing checked or inspect it yourself. You will need to drain it and refill it when you do this. Oil shouldn't come out that tube unless the rear end was overfilled or there is something causing the oil to thin out or foam up.
