Well, the Ford dealer called tonight. Asked if I had installed a Preditor chip. I said no and that I was thinking of in instead of paying the $450.00 for them to retune mine and they told me that there was a Diablo Preditor chip installed and that it was giving them bad readings on their computer. I told them to take it out and put it in the glove compartment and retune the trans shift points to the factory settings.
PS. We setteled on $200.00 this afternoon after I went by and raised cane with them about only putting 7,000 miles on the truck since I bought it and the warrenty from them.
Any ideas on what I should do with the Preditor?
Predator chip? The Predator is a tuner. Diablo makes a chip, but is called simply a DiabloSport chip or DiabloSport Delta chip. Did they actually give you a chip? FYI, any chip will give a P0603 code when installed, its perfectly normal, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the chip.
Ken,
They asked me what I wanted to do with the chip and I told them to put it in the glove compartment that I wanted it. They said that it needed to be reprogramed and that they do not do that with non ford chips.
Should I have kept it in. They are saying that is causing my trans. shifting problems. How do I tune the old chip?
Ken,
Sure enough, I picked up my truck yesterday and in the glove compartment was a Diablo Sport Chip. It must have been in there when I bought the truck.
The dealer told me that if I ever wanted to reinstall it, it had to be done by a Diablo dealer. Is this correct? Truck seems to be running fine. I did not know it had the chip and I have been running 87 octane in it also. Could that be another reason for my poor gas mileage? 10-11 MPG.
Anyway, thanks for your input and advice.
Oh, the bill was $185.00. They serviced the trans and took out the Diablo.
Thanks again, GREAT BOARD!!!!
Jim
